BIO

Nick Gross is a Los-Angeles-based drummer, songwriter, and producer known for his explosive playing and high-energy performances with punk-ska legends Goldfinger and modern pop-punk duo girlfriends. Blending the speed and power of classic punk with a modern pop-punk edge, Gross has built a reputation as a drummer who hits hard, plays tight, and brings room-filling energy to every stage he steps on.

Nick discovered the drums at a young age in Laguna Beach, beginning to play around seven. Growing up in Orange County, he split his time between the ocean and the drum kit while absorbing Southern California’s punk and alternative culture. As a teenager he was already performing and recording with bands and gaining early visibility through appearances on MTV’s Laguna Beach, momentum that soon led to professional touring and eventually his role as drummer for punk-ska legends Goldfinger.

After joining Goldfinger’s touring lineup in 2018 and officially becoming the band’s drummer in 2020, Gross helped drive the band’s album Never Look Back while continuing to tour internationally. The band’s most recent release, Nine Lives (2026), marks another chapter in Goldfinger’s storied career, bringing renewed energy to their signature ska-punk sound as the band continues performing major tour dates and festival appearances around the world.

At the same time, Gross co-founded girlfriends with vocalist Travis Mills—an unexpected but destined collision that quickly connected with a new generation of fans through emotionally charged songwriting and a fast-paced, anthemic drumming style that defines Gross’s sound.

The band’s 2020 self-titled debut, girlfriends, introduced a high-energy take on modern pop-punk that rapidly gained traction across streaming platforms, followed by their 2022 sophomore album (e)motion sickness. Their latest release, There Goes the Neighborhood (2025), expands on that sound with a bold, full-throttle pop-punk approach that tips it's hat to the 90's, further solidifying the band’s growing global audience.

Since forming, girlfriends has grown from a buzzworthy emerging artist into a globally touring act with hundreds of millions of cumulative streams and a rapidly expanding fanbase across North America, Europe, Australia, and beyond. Their momentum online quickly translated to the stage, with tours and festival appearances placing the band in front of thousands of fans nightly and festival audiences in the tens of thousands. girlfriends has performed at major venues and festivals including When We Were Young Festival, as well as iconic rooms within the House of Blues and The Fillmore networks across the United States.

Whether at Nick’s studio, Noise Nest in the heart of Hollywood, or behind the kit in front of a packed crowd, Gross is known for a drumming style that blends tight pocket playing with explosive fills and high-energy live performance. Drawing inspiration from the punk, rock, and alternative records he grew up on, he approaches the drum kit as both a rhythmic foundation and a dynamic musical voice—bringing intensity, feel, and showmanship to every performance.

Offstage, Gross continues to expand his creative ventures as an entrepreneur through companies including Gross Labs, Big Noise Music Group, Find Your Grind, X Games, and others—always staying firmly rooted in the DIY ethos that punk music was built on.

With extensive international touring experience and a growing discography across multiple projects, Gross continues to push his musicianship while performing in front of audiences worldwide. His approach to tone, durability, and performance consistency is powered by industry-leading gear including SJC Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, Remo Drumheads, and DW Hardware & Pedals—tools that deliver the power, clarity, and reliability required for modern touring drummers.

From legendary punk stages to the next generation of pop-punk, Nick Gross represents a drummer who plays with the same urgency that built the scene in the first place. Loud, precise, and relentless behind the kit, he continues to push the music forward while inspiring the next generation to start playing.
